Actor and VJ Pooja Misrra talks to PT about what she is doing, and what she wants
—GT Times News Network
WE might as well call her a Pune girl. VJ and actor Pooja Misrra was recently in the town to meet her family. "My parents reside in Pune, although most of the time they are travelling overseas," says Pooja.
The pretty damsel has just finished shooting for a song in the movie Mera Dil Leke Dekho. Talking about the song, she says that she is not happy with some people calling it an item number. "It is much more classy than an item number," she says. In fact, Pooja doesn't like the word item number. "Why say that in the first place? That is not a fair categorisation," feels she.
Is she against item numbers in principle? "No, not at all. But definitely some people are presenting some very raunchy stuff in the name of item songs," she says. Now that Pune is her home, what does she have to say about the city? "It's a lovely city. The spirit of people is unbelievable, even though I do not get too much time to come here," responds she. The young VJ-turned- actor's mantra is work hard and party harder.
Quips the girl who has partied in the city before,"If you have partied hard at night, you'll be fresh the next morning. "But I still have to see the new places here." In her career, the dusky beauty has tried out a variety of things in entertainment -VJing, live shows, ramp and ad shoots. What charms her most? "I think it is VJing because you can just be yourself. And, people love you for what you are," says Pooja.
Time for the inevitable question. Is Bollywood her next destination? "Definitely, but I would like to do roles that have depth and substance. I am talking to some directors," she says. Pooja loves travelling, and chatting of course. "I remember meeting Marc Anthony at an international airport once. I had a cup of coffee with him. What amazed me was that inspite of being such a huge pop star and the husband of Jennifer Lopez, he still was very humble, something you might not associate with a celebrity of his stature," she recalls. The vivacious youngster is passionate about strength training. Says she,"I was an athlete in school, always returning with medals. Now, I love strength training." Ah ha, one thinks, here is somebody who is all set to manifest the strength of a woman.
